At Clarity Financial Planning Group, public service and community engagement are central to who we are and what we believe in. Below are just a few of the ways we seek to contribute to society and support those in need through volunteerism and charitable giving.
Changing the lives of children with childhood cancer is a mission dear to our hearts, and one we support through our work with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Dedicated to searching for a cure for childhood cancer, ALSF provides support to families battling the disease and researchers searching for a cure.
The foundation’s story began when four-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, through struggling with terminal cancer, hosted lemonade stands in her front yard to raise money to find a cure. In 2005, Alex’s parents, Liz and Jay Scott, established ALSF in honor of their daughter and her courageous efforts. Since the foundation’s inception, ALSF has raised $95 million for pediatric cancer research and has funded more than 450 research projects.
Northwestern Mutual has supported the foundation with substantial annual grants since 2012. To bolster that effort, each year, a group of Clarity Financial Planning Group employees join forces with Northwestern Mutual’s Philadelphia office to participate in the ALSF Lemon Run, a 5K Run/Walk. The event runs through Fairmount Park, which is right in our backyard!
Clarity Financial Planning Group founding partner, Nicholas Kemp Jr., has served on the Benchmark School Board of Trustees since 2013. The Benchmark School is actively committed to helping students in grades 1 to 8 who learn differently or have yet to reach their academic potential. The school strives to help these students develop the necessary skills and knowledge needed to become lifelong learners, thinkers, and problem-solvers. Benchmark School, located in Media, PA, has an enrollment of approximately 185 full-time students from the five-county Philadelphia region, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
Clarity Financial Planning Group is proud to support the Legacy Reef Foundation’s (LRF) mission to work with local communities to plan, develop, and support coral reef restoration projects throughout the world. Many communities depend on coral reefs for survival and the reefs are in decline resulting in negative impacts to many coastal communities. LRF identifies the best science and practices continuously produced in the field and develops protocols and technological solutions that are environmentally friendly and accessible to all nations and communities.
Providing opportunities for people from all walks of life to actively participate in ocean restoration efforts, LRF plans to install modular and mobile coral propagation labs that will allow local communities with limited resources to rebuild resilient reef ecosystems and help reestablish food security for their people. By working together, the decline of our vital coral reefs and their ecosystems can be slowed while speeding up their repopulation.
